Athletes and Coaches
At the club we have a number of high level coaches and players who are dedicated to the sport and attend week in week out. Below are some of the players and Coaches you will meet at the Club.

Joe Burns is the head coach at the club and is the highest possible fighting grade in the sport of Judo, he is a 5th dan. He has many years experience within the sport. Also he is a qualified referee and a level 3 coach, amongst many other qualifications. Joe has coached many people to a high level in the sport and has a number of players on the England squad.

Joshua Burns is one of the athletes at the club and one of the most successful players in the country and has been selected for the England team for a number of years. He has 5 national titles under his belt and two national team bronze medals alongside many other titles including English open champion. At only 19 he is already a 3rd dan in the sport and he has previously been selected to represent Great Britain in the European championships. Joshua has many years ahead of him within the sport and may one day be representing Great Britain in the Olympics.


Henry Wakes is another member of Beach Judo Club and is one of the youngest members that the club has on the England squad. At just 14 Henry has won a number of great medals, he is currently the national champion at u42kg and has other medals such as a national bronze medal, national teams bronze medal, national schools bronze. He also has medals including the Midland open gold, heart of England silver and not only has Henry medalled at national competitions, he has also gained medals in internation competitions such as a Gold medal in Flanders cup.
Thomas Alberts is a member at Beach Judo club and again is part of the England squad and Great Britain squad. At the age of 19 Thomas has already had over 14 years experience and has achieved a lot in the sport including his 2nd dan in the sport. Furthermore he has 5 national medals to his name and two National team Bronze medals. Alongside these he also has medals such as the Northwest senior open Gold, Heart of England Bronze and English open Bronze.

Ashton Whalley is another one of Beach's young extraordinary talents and is also part of the England team. At only 16 he already has three National Gold medal and two Silver national medals. Furthermore he also has two National teams Bronze added to his collection. Alongside these amazing medals he has other medals such as... At such a young age Ashton has plenty more years left within the sport and can only improve on his already founded talent.

Nathon Burns was originally a member of Beach Judo club and was coached by his Father Joe. Nathon is now well travelled, he has trained full time in Judo for a number of years. He now trains full time in Camberly and is ranked number one in Great Britain. Nathon still visits the club and sometimes pleasure the club with a visit and giving others some of his knowledge. Nathon has won championships such as the British open and... alongside this he also has many other international medals such as.... Nathon was also part of the British team which went to the World team Championships earlier this year in Brazil.
With the training that Nathon puts in and his amazing skill and talent he is a hopeful for the Olympics in Rio 2016. Nathon started at the age of 5 and has achieved great things from Judo, not only has he achieved great things it has also given him oppurtunities to travel the world which he would never of had without Judo.​
